The Good Earth Pecha Kucha

Pecha Kucha (Japanese: ペチャクチャ, IPA: [pet͡ɕa ku͍̥t͡ɕa], chit-chat) is a presentation methodology in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each, usually seen in a multiple-speaker event called a Pecha Kucha Night . (Wikipedia)

Using your book, The Good Earth, complete a five slide (20 seconds each) presentation  about the personality traits of any character from the book.  If you like, be brave and avoid choosing the easy characters such as O-Lan and Wang Lung.

  1. Pick your character from the book
  2. Open up Keynote and download this template
  3. Use X-Mind, brainstorm information about your character.  You may want to include:
    1. Introduce the character
    2. Character’s personality traits
    3. Physical appearance
    4. Funny or interesting story
    5. How the character is viewed by others
    6. Something you learned (perhaps about China) from the character
    7. How the character changes during the book
    8. The character’s decisions
    9. Any other ideas you have!
  4. Write the text of your presentation in the notes section of your Keynote
  5. Find photos (Getty Images is best) that support your words.  Login for Getty Images is concordiashanghai  Password is shanghai
  6. Record your Keynote
  7. Export as a video, put it on Phoenix Video and embed it on your blog
  8. Email me the actual Keynote
